Angeles Crest Highway

Went out this morning and played on Angeles Crest Highway. I haven't been on the front side for a number of years and I'd forgotten just how much fun it can be.

Had to wait ten minuted at the bottom so they could clean up a downed bike . . . first idiot of the day I guess. From that point on traffic was light. It is also 4th of July weekend so I doubt it is always so quiet.

I was stuck on the top of that back up on my way home. If you go up at 0600 you miss the traffic...most of the time. Going down when the late waking squids are coming up is mo bettah.
Some young feller did himself in just above Lady Bug recently. I had to go back to Nine mile and back on Forest Highway. So the road can be a bother sometimes.
What's funny is to see the parades of high performance German and Italian cars following a tour bus at 25 mph. Sweet!
Kinda like Palomar, best real early or during the week.

Yeah,, usually I try to get out by 6-6:30 AM to beat the bicyclists but I have typically been doing Mulholland Highway, not the Crest.

Note to self - more time on Angeles Crest . . .

Hopefully you LA area guys appreciate what great roads you have so close. I have ridden AC twice and can't wait to do it again. Both times I was lucky. Had the road virtually to myself.
