“Another Year Older Ride” 2015… Mostly Photos

Meredith and I wanted to ride to the Oregon coast and explore around Mt. Rainer while visiting her brother and sister-in -law… then all four of us were off to northeastern Oregon around the towns of Enterprise and Joseph…. Before riding home we’d explore some backroads west of Baker City, Oregon…. 10 days and about 1800 miles

Two of my favorite things are arriving somewhere new, and heading off for somewhere yet unexplored.

WARNING! Prolonged exposure to a road trip may impair your ability to return to work……

As we rode through Sisters and over the Santiam Pass towards the coast, clouds were building… the weather service wasn’t calling for rain… but, this is the Pacific Northwest

We’ll let the pictures speak for themselves…
The first night was in Lincoln City….

North on Hwy 101 to Astoria and Fort Steven State Park then to Kapowsin, WA to stay and visit for a few days and ride around Mt. Rainer

Various roadside attractions along the way….

Up early to walk around Fort Steven State Park before heading off to Kapowsin…. We had the park to ourselves this morning

The first part of June is a great time to ride and hike around Mt. Rainer… Not much traffic and tourist season isn’t in full swing yet

Fun… Doug and Linda were in their Corvette…. the weather was phenomenal

It was a good day’s ride from Doug and Linda’s home in Kapowsin, WA to Enterprise and Joseph, Oregon

Riding out to Hells Canyon overlook …. Afternoon thunderstorm clouds started to build….

Climbing quickly through some wonderful twisty roads…. I think I felt the mornings coffee sloshing in my stomach!

On the way back into town we ran into a downpour…. rain and hail

Time to start riding back towards Bend…. time flies when having fun. Off to drive some backroads west of Baker City and spend the night in Dayville at a very nice inn. Tomorrow, after breakfast we part ways with Doug and Linda…. they drive north back into Washington and we ride east along Hwy 26 past John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, Mitchell and Prineville.

No adventure is successful without a safe return home…

Meredith and I have decided that….

Great photos! I've ridden through a number of those areas myself, but many others are on my to do list. Looks like you had an awesome time.

Don't look back - you're not going that way.

Love the pics!
Had the opportunity to visit Oregon last summer on our 10,000 mile 30 day retirement celebration tour of the west.
Sadly wasn't on the bike, gets complicated when you have 2 55 lb dogs that you refuse to board.
