My everyday commuter is a 2002 Toyota Sequoia 4WD.

426,000 miles and its runs like new. No major repairs.

Now if I could only get around to recovering the seats, it wouldn't look like a beater interior.

here in northern New England, a vehicle of that age is generally rotted out unless it's not driven in winter

Since 1973 have rode my motorcycle far more miles per year than my four wheel stuff. The last car we had was a 17 year old Prism with 104,000.We got it a year old with 9,000 on it.Have a 05 Cobalt now that my dad bought new and gave to me a year before he died when he had to stop driving at 88.It has 63,000 now with us driving the last five years.I often go a month with out being in a car.People often ask if I own one.
Had a 85 Toyota pick up my tax lady told me to buy to count off on my farm.It had 43,600 miles four years ago when I gave it to my grandson.Half those miles or more were not put on by me but kinfolk that used it when they had a car/truck in the shop and it needed driving. He totaled it two years ago and put the motor in a 4x4 that he then sold.
I still have a 1937 chevy pickup I bought in 1977.Full fendered rat with a 67 283 and power glide I put in when I got it.Hauled my drag bikes in it a lot and just short fun trips. It is not drove much at all anymore as like me old and needs work.I was doing over 30,000 a year on my motorcycles but at 70 the 21 of June have slowed down to around 20,000 a year now.The old beater bikes I got to ride the 97 mile trip to work and back the last 19 of 27 at IBM,Lexington,Ky. were only ones that may have saved me money.Changed all my own tires and did 99% of all work on them back then.

My daily driver is 17 years old. Normally buy 10+ year old vehicles, keep 'em putting along for a while, buy another. Rust gets them here before the engine goes.

Cars are money suckholes that give me no joy.

So I just ran a cost per mile calculation for my 2008 DL650, which I bought with 35,000 miles on it in January. It currently has 52,000.

Fuel (50mpg @ 2.20/Gal
Oil changes ($20 every 3000 mi - including filter)
Front tire(11k mi @ $76)
Rear tire (12k mi. @ $150)
Chain/sprockets (20,000 mi @ $140).
Insurance ($103/year @ 17,500 miles this year so far)

Total: 8.1 cents per mile. Insurance is a maximum, as that mileage figure will go up.

My 2005 F150 gets 15 mpg. At a fairly low $2.20/gallon, that's 14 cents a mile for fuel alone.
