not real happy with Nelson Rigg CL850 bags

So I got a set of NR 850 bags a few months ago, and really, im more and more disappointed with them. I know there were not expensive, but still.

retaining clips that secure the bags are cheap. one has already broken. cheap plastic that seem flimsy

i've had one zipper slider go bad on me.

the rain covers are useless, they start slipping up and poofing up with air at highway speed.

That's a shame, I just Googed them and they look really nice...for a soft bag. Dang the bad luck!

I am trying to find soft bags that will work with my GIVI PLR3101 Quick-Release Mounts. I will rule the NR 850 bags out. Thanks for the info. Still got to find some that will work with these GIVI mounts.

Nothing except hard bags are worth a damn. If you;re gonna make a soft bag for a motorcycle, why in hell would you require rain covers? It ALWAYS rains.

The soft bags I 'm looking at from Wolfman don't need rain covers. They are waterproof. Apparently they make adapters that will work with the GIVI mounts.

I know someone who has over 100,000 miles on a DL1000 using NR 850's, in every kind of weather, in virtually every state, without a single problem and without ever using the rain covers. As a matter of fact I've put 5,000 miles on that same bike through rain and snow from Nashville to the west coast with never a leak.

I had some, Scott, based on the same info as you and they leaked. Maybe they changed.

I have had the same set of CL-850 bags since 2008, first on my DR650 and now my DL650. Never a problem, never a leak in our Seattle weather without the covers and I enjoy the capacity. I use my bike as more of a utility vehicle, and large bag capacity is important to me. I like a hard top case to secure my laptop and soft side bags to carry the cargo.

We are very sorry to hear about the issues you are having with your CL-850's. As most on this site will attest, these bags are extremely durable and long lasting and a great match for the V-Strom. This style is one of our longest running pieces of luggage in our line. We would be happy to immediately warranty these bags for you. Please contact us at [email protected] or call us at 714 850 1811. Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you in advance.
