What's the story on BILT Hurricane Waterproof Motorcycle Boots ?

Has anyone tried the BILT stuff? (Cyclegear).

I'm looking for a new pair of waterproof boots and at $79 (50% off) they seem hard to beat but given the low price I'm nervous and wanted to know if anyone had taken the "plunge" and bought these boots?

They also off a shorter pair the Typhoon for $60....

Thanks!

I looked at the BILT boots a while back. Compared them to my Tourmaster Solution Waterproof boots. Looked almost identical at first, but then I could see and feel the quality difference. Bilt boots were shorter, material thinner , and the stitches didn't look too good to me. My Turmaster Boots cost $110.00 . I would not recommend buying the Bilt unless you just want a cheap temporary fix.

Cycle Gear has gone crazy with the Bilt house brand...and it's complete garbage. It's all you see in their catalogs now. The cheapest possible Chinese gear.

I just bought a pair of the typhoon boots yesterday so I havent had a chance to try them out yet. My first impression is that the quality is certainly not up to the top brands, however they seem to be worth the money at least at 50% off. I have alpinestars smx5 and love them but they are vented and I only wanted the waterproof for about 3 months per year as they are too warm for my climate in summer. the protection is decent around the ankles and shin and heal and the fit is good for me when standing and I dont do much walking in motorcycle boots anyway. the uppers are 100% leather although it is thinner leather than top line stuff. all in all they are a viable alternative for most people who either cant or wont spend for better brands. certainly they are superior to 90% of the work boots out there which have no protection. I will post a review after I have spent some time in them.

I've got these boots. Put some snow seal on them to actually make them waterproof as they leaked a little in the really heavy downpours. I really like them and think they are totally worth the cost. Would never pay there "full price" but on sale I'd say they are worth it. They are also really warm and comfy even in freezing temperatures. I've ridden tourmasters as well that were similar style, and yes they were better quality, but these for me are just as comfortable. I've only had mine since September so I'm not sure of durability yet, but no signs of wear and they've got three steady months of riding on them.

I've got the Bilt boots. They aren't super fancy, and they aren't water tight. They're also a little loose in the toes so they feel sloppy. But they were $79, and I live in Arizona where it rains twice a year, so I really only use them on occasion when traveling to Colorado or Utah, and I have to resort to a plastic bag over my socks just to make sure.....

I got mine when they were on sale really cheap. Not waterproof like they say. Got caught in the rain yesterday coming home from work and my feet got soaked. I really don't think there are any real waterproof boots. Other than that I like them and couldn't beat the price when you live on a tight budget.
