I ride with a Hit-Air vest. I haven't yet pavement-tested it.

I'm seriously thinking about it. It seems like a reasonable safety add-on that could protect a vital area.

Sidi also makes a vest. Two different models: one just for neck protection and a full torso protection one. Check out Motostorm for best prices.

I have been jonesing after a HitAir jacket for a while, I think it will be on my Christmas list. I have been looking forward to reading a good review of it, so far none. I have seen reviews for the vest alone and it looks like an excellent passive safety device.

How accurate is the sizing? Especially if it is worn on the outside of your jacket.

I know I'm resurrecting a year-old thread, but I think this is an important topic. I've been riding with a Hit-Air vest for about a year now. I really like it, it makes me feel safer and I have seen some reports online that they have saved lives.

A couple of myths I hear about them: First, that they are hot. Truth is they are really lightweight and they don't interfere with airflow that much. Second, that they will go off accidentally. I have gotten off the bike many times forgetting the tether, but it takes 35 pounds of pressure to set it off. I feel the tug when I get off and just unhook it. My biggest problem is remembering to hook it up when I get on the bike. I have put the letters "ABV" for "Air Bag Vest" in orange Sharpie on my windscreen to remind me. I rarely forget now.

I hope more riders will consider using them.
