AdventureTech Makeover
So I was at the Iron Horse for the V-Strom Gathering a couple of weeks ago. Richland Rick was there as well and he helped me makeover my 2013 DL650.
Items installed:
1. Forkbrace
2. Peg lowering kit
3. Mirror extenders
4. Large kickstand foot
Rick did a demo Saturday morning and helped 3 of us install the peg lowering kits. This was the most difficult of the four farkles, but by no means difficult. If you don't happen to have Rick looking over your shoulder like I did, his instructional video will get you through just fine. The other three were a complete breeze to throw on. I have average mechanical skill, but nothing special.
Observations so far... WOW!
I am 6'2'' with a 34 inseam and the peg lower kit is a amazing. That extra inch makes the ride so much more comfortable. I knew it would help my knees but it also made my hip flexors much more comfortable. No problems with scraping so far, and the comfort improvement was amazing.
The fork brace is fantastic. The bike is just more stable and grounded. It is better in the curves, more stable at highway speeds, better in crosswinds, and better around semis. Love it! Get it!
Next, the mirror extenders. So simple, but so effective. I can see behind me now! It also improves the buffeting; I had heard this but was skeptical. Well, it does!
Lastly, the kick stand foot enlarger. (That is a mouthful). Great little upgrade that you appreciate when the ground is soft. No more looking for a rock, or piece of wood, or digging through you bags for your puck.
All of this ran me about $150. $150! For a more comfortable, better handling bike. You can't do much better than that.
So for the obvious comparison. At this point I would buy them all again in a heartbeat, but if I had to rank them
1. Forkbrace
2. Peg lowering kit
3. Mirror extenders
4. Kickstand foot enlarger
Honestly, I would say the lower kit and forkbrace are really tied for first. They are truly must haves.
Shop around and you will see how much this stuff could, and probably should cost. Honestly I would pay double for the top two things. But Rick keeps his prices VERY reasonable.
Kudos to you Rick and thanks for the fantastic makeover!
