Ok, I'll give a review of Blair's service first... Dang... What fast shipping! You gotta love the personalized emails and the follow-up in product and service satisfaction. Thanks Blair.
Ok, now for the pads. I'll be completely honest, when I heard about how many people use two fingers for braking, I thought you were stupid. I had stock Tokico pads on, with a definitely usable amount of meat left. I was going to keep them, but damn I just threw them away after these!
I haven't put over 100 miles on my new pads from installing yesterday, and 10 minutes into my initial break in ride they were already better than the stock pads! I still haven't used full force on them, I like to break my pads in nice and good, at least 300 miles of easy braking with lots of cooling time. These things are wonderful!!!!
I got the Galfer organic black pads for the back... For obvious reasons, but ill install them in 500 miles or so, I want to keep one wheel that I can brake hard with while breaking in the new ones. I've glassed a few sets on cars before, so I'll never the same mistake about the break in period.
What made me want the switch is not necessarily everyone's reviews, but my own experience in my BMW.
I had a Euro-spec 89' BMW Cabrio 320i, 4 wheel disc was something to be proud of. But my brakes would get cherry red on heavy downhill s turns in the Italian alps. I bought a set of slotted &drilled rotors with ceramic pads. Once broken in... Holy sh#¥ did they make a difference. I mean if you were not wearing a seatbelt and had stiff legs on the pedal, it would make you stand straight up it stopped so hard!!!
Remembering that, I knew that pads made a huge difference with braking. I recommend these to anyone and everyone who likes to be able to stop when they want, and not worry about crappy brakes! Try this cheap alternative before an expensive one like a caliper swap!
Anyone who wants My old stock pads can't have them, even if you have me $100, I would just buy you a set of sintered pads to make myself feel better. If you really don't want sintered pads, at least get the Galfer black organic, don't buy the crappy stock pads anymore, they are a waste of money and time.
Btw I think I need shorty levers now from how easy these stop.
