Hello,

Has anyone replaced the low beam bulb on a 2019 650XT with an LED, and if so, what brand LED did you use? And, did you have to modify anything?

Thanks in advance

Sorry I don't have an answer for you; instead I have a request. If you go through with this, would you be kind enough to take your bike somewhere where you can shine the lights on a parking lot and wall or something like that at night, so that the bean pattern is visible, take a picture of that bean pattern, replace the bulbs, and take another picture? I've heard that engineering an LED build to be a drop-in replacement for an incandescent is very challenging, because incandescent bulbs create what is essentially a point source of omnidirectional light, while LED bulbs have panels of LEDs that each shine light mostly in one direction. The result can be that the LED interacts poorly with the reflector and lens.

I'm sure we'd all appreciate seeing how well the LEDs mimic the original beam pattern. Thank you.

It can be done. I have LED bulbs in my 650 and 1000 and they have a perfect beam pattern. They DID need adjustment.

The ones I use are from an AU supplier, no idea what the generic China inc. equivalent is.

Auxito seem to be the goto in the US. Go for the bulbs with no ballast, just plug in replacement, they won't necessarily have the output that some of the others do but odds of a proper beam pattern is higher.

Not the 650 but I have on my '18 1000 - which I think is the same bulb and setup as the 650. Replaced with an Auxtito brand (can get on Amazon) H7 replacement - fanless design that fits exactly where the stock bulb went and has been no problems in the last 3 years and ~45,000kms since I replaced it.

You'll need an H7 bulb, lots of options that should be plug and play.

And I don't ride at night so can't comment on how it compares to the stock but the beam pattern/spread I tested on my garage in the dark with the original bulb - marked where the cut off was and then adjusted the new bulb (there are adjustment screws) to mirror the cut off for the stock bulb.
