Not sure how much help this post is as I've only just taken delivery of my 800RE a couple weeks ago, but I've found a number of things I'm keen to upgrade (some more urgent than others):

Lights - stock ones are flat out dangerous for me. I use my bike for long daily/nightly commuting (like ~100klm each way), some of it through winding, kangaroo-infested county roads. Sorry but those standard lights are just crap, I'm flying blind every time and have had near misses four times so far.
I've got a pair of Stedi MX-25 spotlights (not sure if available outside Australia - I'm assuming they are) and mounted them on an SW Motech Light Mount under the duck bill, which turned out pretty neat. Theyre not wired up yet due to my getting messed around by my (former) dealership, but I'm booked in somewhere else end of next week. So if I live until then, I'll let you know how these lights turned out.

Luggage - I sometimes stay overnight somewhere closer to work, so I need to be able to carry 'stuff'. I love that the bike comes with a rack already, and a pretty decent one at that. Still, I'm about to get the SW Motech Adventure Rack + Extension thing. That should get me through indefintely, but I do intend to get back into a bit of touring again in the future. Plus I want to make this bike my daily ride, so side panniers are definitely on my horizon. I don't like hard panniers, and really like the Mosko Moto stuff. Currently thinking Backcountry side bags and 40Ltr Duffle on the Adventure rack. Be saving up the pennies for a whiile for all those though. From the MM website, it seems the SW Motech EVO racks work well with the Backcountry bags but I can't see anywhere on the SWM site that these racks fit the V Strom 800. Keen to see/hear from anyone who could share some illumination here.

Protection - I've bought radiator and engine/exhaust guards from Radguard (another fine Australian coy), but can't mount them yet becauise my bike doesn't come with that very expensive and stupid 'Accessory Tube Assembly' from Suzuki as standard. I know I'll have to get that first, but then I'll also to be able to fit crash bars and a skid plate. I'm not going to go offroading much on this bike, but I will likely be touring down a bunch of dirt/gravel roads so that stuff will come in handy. I'm thinking about maybe keepng all the gear from a single manufacturer (in this case SW Motech), in the hope that it should all work well with each other. I'd welcome any comments/observations here though. Anyway, I'll also be mounting a set of barkbusters.

Miscellaneous - Veridian Cruise control (I've gotten too used to CC on my last couple bikes, plus I get the numb hands after a while at high revs) / Comms-Nav Head Unit (Chigee or Carpuride?) / Heated grips (likely Oxford Integrated units - had them on last bike and they worked well)

So a fair bit for me to chew through. Hopefully something in there might've helped you/others by sparking an interest somewhere. Either way, I'll keep watching this thread for more perspective/intel myself.

So this is what I did in the end
Tubeless by bartubeless.it
High Seat by Suzuki
Risers PUIG 3 cm
Sidestand enlarger bit Hepco-Becker
Led auxiliary lights by Hepco-Becker
Extra 12V
Waiting for this to come to market: Outback Pannier racks They expect to have them ready by May
I'm looking into the tubeless route for my 800DE, so I'd appreciate if you can tell me, after one year, how is the bartubeless solution going.

Thanks.
