New to forum - Let's ride

Hi, I'm a newbie to this forum but have been riding off-road for 30+ years. I recently purchased a 2008 DL1000 and have been on a few fire roads and about 500 miles of twisty, back country roads. It would be fun to ride with a group or a buddy. I live in Portland and ride my KTM 350 off-road in Tillamook, Gifford Pinchot, Millican, China Hat and would like to explore some DL1000 friendly stuff around those places or others. Day ride, camping weekends or whatever, let's ride.

Welcome aboard! What a beautiful area you live in, I've ridden there a few times. And congrats on getting a great machine!

I too am a newbie, albeit in Arizona. I purchased my '09 650 yesterday. 12,000 miles with Pellican 1520 panniers, heated grips, SW Mototech crash bars, skid plate, articulating foot pegs and cruise control. This is my first adult bike I had a Hodaka in 8th grade. Took it for a ride this morning in the rain, that's right, rain in Arizona. Anyway, I'm happy to be "on board" and look forward to getting advice/suggestions/recommendations/corrections from the group. Thanks in advance...

PNWEric, welcome to Stromtrooper,
I'm in PDX as well. I have zero off-road experience but do have aspirations to do some camping. I enjoy forest service roads and did Lolo pass from Zigzag to Lost Lake a month back that had a few miles of gravel road. I'm still on OEM tires and no belly pan.
Let's try to connect in the spring to see if we can get a ride in.
Cheers,

2012 DL650A Adventure 26K miles

I also live in Portland and try to get out and ride at least once a week for a 150 to 200 mile ride. I've posted this several times, but haven't had any offers to go riding. I wonder why ???

There is a monthly BMW gathering in the Portland area. Check the F800 Site or the 650 site for particulars, you may find friends.
I've thought about doing a kilo day and show up for dinner with them. But then, I'm lazy.

What: Portland Meet & Greet
When: Third Wednesday of each month
Time: For now let's set the time at around 6:30pm
Where: Pyramind Breweries McTarnahan Taproom
2730 NW 31st Portland Oregon, 97210

It's not Stom but lots of us have multiple bikes.
Our local riding group is multi brand.

My wife and I are riding in Nevada to avoid the rain in Portland. It's gorgeous country here. I'm totally into a ride when the weather breaks. I could ride after 5:00 on weekdays or on the weekends.
