WV Camping/+WV+VA riding Recommendations?

I'm going for an overnight next week into WV, just to get away for a bit.

If I just show up at one of the state/nat'l forest campgrounds, are they busy enough that I might be stuck without a place to camp? Not sure that I want to reserve as I'm not sure where exactly I'm winding up, but I also don't want to have to keep going and hunt up a spot to sleep when I pull in after dark. NOTE: this will be mid-week, which I imagine should help.

I had looked at Seneca Rocks, as well as the Seneca State Forest among other places, but am not sure whether folks from around there have any MUST-RIDE sections to recommend.

I'm coming across from Delaware through Virginia and am open to any suggestions for that route as well...

Blue ridge parkway in VA is tops. Just north of that is Skyline Drive. SLD has a 35 mph speed limit and 45 on RRP. BRP at mile marker 75 though 100 is primo. Thats where I live. There is camping at Otter Creek about MM 70 and Peaks of Otter about MM 85. I'd call in advance to check out availability. On Skyline Drive Ibelieve there is camping at Big Meadows, Lewis Arm and Loft Mnt. In WVa the Lewisburg area is nice with camping around the White Sulpher Springs .area. In the old days you could camp anywhere at Seneca Rocks. I'm sure it's more restricted today, but there was a NF campground about 5 miles west on rt 33. I think there are some private campgrounds as well. I can't tell you which routes are best for MCing inWVa but routes that run north-south follow the mnt valleys while east-west routes cross the ridges and are pretty twisty.

This Dinski. We met at the gas station on june 17/12. We ended up on 72 i believe around Senca rocks and on ward to Elkins. Great roads. Could you double check my route numbers. But any secondary roads around Senca rocks were awesome. Looking hard for new seat.

WV recommendations

Hi. Probably too late for your earlier trips, but I started a website last year about riding in WV, appropriately named: www.RidingWV.com I wanted to have a site where riders could submit their photos and/or ride reports to help others plan trips to WV. It is still a work in progress, and some pages are still empty. I invite you (and everyone else) to submit any photos and/or ride reports. They don't have to be written with perfect grammar or spelling - I'm a pretty good proofreader and will format/edit as needed. It is a "G" rated site, so please keep it clean.

Hope you find some useful info.

Heh.

Trip didn't happen. Bike crapped out with a screwball problem to the battery... ended up taking public transport 9 hours to catch up with my wife/kid for the trip. Delaware on the beach, no WV for me this summer

Thanks for the suggestions, all, perhaps another time.

Sorry WV didn't work out this time. Make sure you keep it on your "to do" list. We have some great rides here.
