I'm looking for east coast trip ideas

I'm in Raleigh, NC. Always wanted to take an extended motorcycle trip of some sort. By extended I'm thiinking up to about a 3000 mile round trip. Something I could do in 7 - 9 days. Open for any ideas including possible destinations. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks!

Mac how about taking the mountains all the way up through Virginia, West Virginia, MD, PA and up into the Catskills of NY state. That would be quite the hoot in my book. How long can you take off from work for the ride or are you one of those lucky retired guys that has all kinds of time?

One on the back burner for me is to take Rt. 11 from it's starting point (NY, almost at the canadian border) and follow it all the way to its end in New Orleans - not because it's a great motorcycle road, just because it's there. (maybe that's the reason it's on the back burner)

OR

Take a ride up through the mountains of PA (did you PA has a Grand Canyon, too?) - into the Adirondacks of NY - over to the Green Mountains of Vermont - on into the White Mountains of New hampshire (did most of that last year heading to Nova Scotia (another great location))

Just a couple of thoughts...

No, not retired but I have plenty of extra vacation time and I've always wanted to do something like this so was thinking I'd take a week off work which would give me 9 days with the weekends.

Jag's idea sounds pretty good up through the mountains. I've been doing some thinking and was considering heading up through NY state to Niagara Falls and on into Canada. It'd be easy to include some mountain time in that ride. Never been to Canada so it'd be something completely new for me. The great thing about this is that it'll be pretty spontaneous. If something happens along the ride to change my direction...so be it.

YES - do Canada

Hey Mac,

I just returned from a 12-day trip through Quebec, Gaspe Pennisula, and New England. I logged exactly 2927 mi. I took my time - rested a lot - visited friends and family along the way. Otherwise a trip like that could be made inside of a week. It was awesome! I'll post something in the travels pages after I get my pics uploaded.

Cheers
Paul
