3rd Florida Meet & Greet Jan 21

The 3rd Florida Meet & Greet is an open invitation to all V-strommers all over Florida to spend a day riding and meeting with people that enjoy the same passion for the road and open spaces.

Merry Christmas and salutations to all,

This is the final revision of the 3rd Florida Meet & Greet. The route is 106.5 miles if it does not rain and if it rains, it will be 92 miles long. The meeting place will be at 3180 Grand Oaks place in front of the Beef O'Bradys. This is located on the intersection of Pleasant Hill Rd and John Young Pwy. in Kissimmee. We will meet at 11:00am. The ride will take about 3 1/2 hr's and will end at Lake Susan Lodge at Clermont. Looking foward to seeing you all!!! Remember to invite any and all Vstrommer's of your acquaintance.

For people coming from Jacksonville, it is 150 mile ride to Kissimmee. Because of this a 90 mile ride would probably be the best for us. At this point, we would probably spent Saturday night down there because of the distances involved. When David started planning the ride route for the second "meet and greet" the orginial route he had planned on was much longer than the one we finally did. The final route was 90 miles and we decided that was the best because of people having to commute to the ride. He decided that the quality of the roads was more important than having such a long ride.
We had a motorcycle group lunch at Lake Susan Lodge at Clermont and thought it was good. Nice setting on the lake, plenty of room for groups in the restaurant and the best grouper sandwich I've ever had.

I agree with the 90 ride, riding 150 miles + or - to get there and then 150 + or - back home makes for a very long day. The road selection is much better than the length of the ride.

Jan 28 is a bad weekend for me as I have a softball tournament.
Week before is better, BUT don't change for one or two riders. We should have plenty for the next Meet.

BTW, The softball team I play for won the Florida Half Century State Tournament for 55 years and older this weekend. Scoring 42 runs in the Championship Game

Date is still open

Hi guys,

The reason I submitted the 28th as the M&G day is so we have ample time to make adjustments. The date is certainly one of such adjustments and so is the length and quality of the routes.

Charlie, you know there is no Meet and Greet without you, after all, you started this. So, how is the weekend of the 21st ??? If not, post your preference. The weekend of the 11th of Feb is my Aniversary. As you all can imagine it's out of the question for me.

As for the route and destination; I agree," quality over length" so I'll work on the shorter of the routes. I'll make sure it is as enjoyable and rewarding as possible. David, your suggestion on where to eat in Clermont is a good one (Lake Susan Lodge at Clermont). I've heard of the place and will make a point on visiting before the event. BTW, I believe it's on the same route, so including it should be easy. Ill work it in....
Any other suggestions and requests are welcome. The final decision will be made on the weekend of the 24th of December. That should give us a month to prepare.

...and on my way home I remember the struggle of a day under the sun through hills and valleys...over rivers and lakes...conquering the beast that carries me in a stream of wind...a smirk creeps thru as I say in a calm yet impatient way...can't wait!...

If it is no problem the 21st would be better, I have all my schedules except one and that one don't start until last of Febuary.

Vic, you know it takes a team to make this happen, not just one person.

See ya all there.

I should be able to make this one also.

V-Strom Ride

January 21st is a good day for me as well, and I agree with the 90 mile ride. I also agree with the Lake Susan Lodge, which is on Lakeshore Drive off of Hwy 561.

Hope everyone has a great Christmas Holiday.

Lou
