Looking to ride App mtns next Sunday 30th VA

I just rode in from Seattle last week and I am in VA for a few months. I want to meet up with some locals to the blue ridge and surrounding curvy roads for a spirited Sunday ride. I am originally from N. GA so I love the blue ridge pkwy. If anyone is interested in going let me know. We can meet up wherever.

I'm near Charlottesville VA. - let me know your schedule and maybe we can work up a ride.

Take care,

Talking First

Looks like tomorrow will be my first ride of the season. Weather is supposed to be sunny and reasonably warm so myself and a few friends will go for a scoot. Today my youngest stepson and I will prep his bike for the season and I will get mine ready as well. Tomorrow when the temps get nice and snuggly warm around 10:00 am or so we will head out to escort him home to Fredonia via all the twisty secondary roads we can find. I see the bridge on the 353 in Salamanca is closed so we will have to take a slight detour. I'm thinking the 242 from Ellicotville over the ridge to Little Valley then up through Cattaraugus to Gowanda for brekkie at the Olympia. Jay can find his own way home from there and the rest of us can meander back to Olean by some other interesting roads. I am all aquiver with anticipation.

Here's a good ride for next weekend. COG people are terrific and it will be an outstanding ride. I have to work that weekend so I won't be able to make it.

Que?

Where are all the WNY and WPA Strommers? Y'all still hibernating or what? Saw one of you riding southbound on Rt. 16 last Sunday. Some of us should get together soon and go for a ride. How about the little shindig in Clearfield on the 20th?

Road trip:

Tail of the Dragon, Blue Ridge Parkway, and some other stuff.

I'll be riding through parts of Tennessee south-east and north-east of Knoxville this weekend. Also hope to find some good riding on my journey north-east to the Jersey shore. I'll be looking for company, so if anyone wants to get out and play, let me know. I don't grind footpegs, or even come close.

Launch time will be (hopefully) before noon Saturday. Nighttime Saturday will probably catch me at the north end of The Tail of the Dragon. Maybe north of there if I am making good time. Possibly near the Blue Ridge Skyway... Will not be grinding pegs.

The route (only the endpoints are fixed!)

I will check email/voicemail before each ride.

Looking for nice roads and places to stop.

I was in Roanoke for a few days this winter. If you happen to be in that area and you are hungry, you must try http://www.forkinthealley.com/ . It is by far the best pizza I have ever had. The restaurant's not too far from where the Blue Ridge meets up with downtown Roanoke.

Also, the ride from the top of Mt. Rogers to Damascus, VA is a cool ride (yes, I know...the road to Damascus).
