Talking Interest in a Northern VA Tech Day??

I bought my DL1000 last June with 2800 miles on it, and since then have put 13,000 hard miles of on and off road use on it. This is my first motorcycle, but I am a pretty good shadetree auto mechanic, and have synced the throttle bodies several times, removed the secondaries, replaced the suspension links, and a few other minor things.

I have an admittedly alterior motive here, as I would like to check my valves and adjust them if necessary. I also have a bit of an exhaust tick that I am having trouble pinpointing.

I have a nice oversized two car garage with metric wrenches and sockets. front and rear paddock stands, and a pretty well stocked toolbox, although I don't have any special tools which might be required for the valves.

What I am offering is a gathering of the area Stroms, with someone showing up that has done thier own valve check and can just be there to walk me through it. I will help anyone else with thier bike that might not be as mechanically inclined as myself, and I will provide food and beverages for lunch, and throughout the afternoon. If anyone else wants to bring food, drinks, atc. that would be fine. We have a 7-11 style hot dog roller, and I will have my grill going.

If there is indeed interest in this, I will look at setting a date.

I've never done the valves on the strom (06 bought in january with ~2400 miles now). I have done valve adjustments on a number of other vehicles (motorcycles, cars, boats) so I may be of some use.

Overall I'd be interested in a local strom gathering and a tech day. I want to rewire a few things that I threw on in the cold winter as well as install a Zumo and a few otherthings. I'm in Vienna, where in Nova are we talking about?

I did the valve check on my 1000 about 6 weeks ago along with all the fluid changes. I'd be happy to meet up for a tech day.Let me know when.

Well - I just paid the shop to do the valve adjustment, but wouldn't mind getting together for a tech day. If the schedule permits, I'm in.

Take care,
Bob S.

I'm in Winchester.

I figure it would give some of you a good reason to get out of the more crowded parts of NOVA.

I won't be able to make that date - I'll be scattering ashes at sea - my Father-in-laws last request.

Have fun all,
