arkansas I know a guy within an hour of my house that has a wee I think I can ride.
I belive we discussed this quite a bit over lunch one day and I belive I would be more along the lines with what you say. The things I read about the little bike that are better are all opinion when it comes down to it and differs with each individual.

I am so happy with my big bike and have it set up like I want Im not sure its worth the gamble trading it for something I may or may not like better.

New tire, front sprocket, and skid plate will be here for my bike this week

Next will be a madstad bracket and possibly a gearing change. I cannot deicide for sure. I pretty happy with stock with a few exceptions.

binarkansas [QUOTE=arkansas; There is a wee in south Carolina (posted on the forum) I may trade my Vee for. I have not decided yet if I want the smaller bike.

I might have mentioned my wife's grand daughter is married to a guy who owns a wee. An '09, if I'm not mistaken. I stored (and rode) it for him a couple of years ago when he was deployed to Iraq. I know it is very fashionable (for lack of a better word) to love the wee and bash the vee. However, I hated his bike. I wouldn't buy one. It has, to me, all the bad points of the vee without the engine. (hope that makes sense) I don't love the vee, but I do love the engine. Ride a wee some, if you haven't, before you trade. I'm sure whatever bike you have will be fun and great. The bike I've always loved the most is the one I have at the time. I am really considering getting rid of one of the bikes. But every time I ride one of them, it's the one I want to keep. Maybe I need to buy a third bike, then I could stand to part with one of them.

Our plans for house maintenance this spring also includes a new roof. Need to call the guy and get an estimate today, as a matter of fact.

A few years back, my wife had to stop riding with me for age/health reasons. Be sure you and Amanda tour as much as you can. The trips Joan and I made on bikes (beginning in about 1972) make up some of our happiest memories.

arkansas We are going to try to make a trip of some sort in late May. We were thinking possibly smokey mountains and maybe continue on the Savannah Georgia or somewhere on the east coast anyway. We are not sure what or for sure if we will go. I have to put a roof on the house so it just depends on what that cost us. Amanda (my wife) has not decided if she wants to ride her KLR or ride with me. We normally keep to to lanes and ride around 60 anyway. There is a wee in south Carolina (posted on the forum) I may trade my Vee for. I have not decided yet if I want the smaller bike.

I sold my KLR a couple weeks ago. I found that I rode it less and less and was offered almost what I gave for the bike 3 years and 30,000 plus rough miles ago. The bike was also needing tires and brakes and maybe fork seals. He also bought the bike in stock form with a couple small exceptions. It just made sense to let it go. I have ridden the Vee everywhere my wife rides her KLR so there was really no need to keep it. Especially considering she has a KLR that rarely gets ridden anymore.

binarkansas Kevin: Too True. Need to ride together someplace this summer.

If all works out, Robert (friend in Poteau) and I will be going down to Gulf Shores, AL, in late April, or early May. Making a four night trip out of it. two nights in GS. Haven't decided if we will camp or not. Mostly two lane, slow.......he rides a vstar 650, (a nice road solo road bike, but not really well suited for high speed interstate travel....mainly because it requires high rpm and the bike just doesn't sound right, doesn't bother it, bothers the rider though). I'll probably take the KLR. If you want me to keep you updated I will.

This winter I put a madstad on the KLR. Other than lack of HP, it is now a great little two lane bike. I'd ride it anywhere as long as consecutive hours of busy interstate travel are not required.

I plan to work some on the Vee and see if I can make some air deflectors to block the updraft caused by the fairing design.

Seems like there might be enough Arkansas Strom riders watching this forum now that a meet/ride/eat or similar could be worked out by some folks in the central part of the state. Would be fun, I think.

We need to get together for a ride again Barry. Wish last time would have worked out better and I would have got to go. It was a good lunch though.

My friend from Benton and his recently deceased wife, took a 3 day trip with my Sweetheart and I last May from Benton to Eureka Springs, over to Harrison for lodging. We rode a couple of those loops and had a blast. Now that I have my Wee set up better for comfort and performance, I'm looking to do a trip up your way for 5 to 6 days. Maybe we can meet up for a ride with you during May. Game?
