So keeping in mind that I haven't had a chance to do anything with my mirrors other than adjust them at every stop light on my way to/from work.....
That plastic, conical piece under the mirror...how does it come off? Does it unscrew or does it just "pop" off? The bottom where they attach to the handle bars is secure as can be. It's just the top that's the issue for me.
Again....thanks for all the help guys! Hopefully this weekend I'll be able to take a look at it.

|campsitepoacher||The plastic conical piece that covers the ball socket right at the mirror is cracked on mine; both sides. Wondering if this is structural or just cosmetic. Would rather just leave them as is if it's just cosmetic.|

Here's the tapered piece that causes the bottom to lock. The brass part loves to stick in the bottom half of the silver colored connectors. A drill press uses a Morse taper to connect the chuck to the spindle so a tapered joint does not want to loosen. The top boot is plastic and is prone to cracking.

|Nerf||I don't remember there being a rubber boot up next to the mirror itself, but I'll double check. Thanks for the help!|

Slide the little rubber boots at either end of the mirror stems back and try tightening the nuts there a smidge.
If the ball joint at the mirror is what's loose, then you'll likely need new mirrors.
Lots of us install smaller mirrors to reduce wind buffeting, so post in "parts wanted" and I'm sure someone will sell you their old stock mirrors cheap.

Stock mirror question
After I crashed back in July I replaced my after market mirrors (installed by previous owner) with the stock ones (supplied by previous owner with the sale of the bike). I'm thinking I like them a little better because they're actually a little bigger. (He he....that's what she said! :biggrinjester However, how in the world do you tighten JUST the mirror?!?! They're okay connected to the mounts that attach to the handle bars. But they move on me once I get up to speed. Readjusting them at every red light is NOT fun any more! HELP!!
