billyal33 Well if I could afford a 1190 r a multi I'd not be lookin at a ulgy vee2! I bought mine as it was cheap, just like me I guess. Anyway good luck with the new bike. Jealous! Don't pay to much attention to folk sayin it'll be unreliable, it might be r it might not. People said that to me about my tiger800 but it never missed a beat in 3 years and 25000 miles where as my super reliable Japanese bike has let me down twice now in a year and 6000 miles!!!! Enjoy

This nonsense that you can only compare bikes in the price range is just plain silly.

I also looked at KTM and Ducati when getting my V2 as well as the FZ and FJ09, Versys and even though of a KLR. People can compare whatever they want!

Bugzy That is cool you went with the KTM. Hopefully you don't find it unreliable or too hot.

I see several of these for sale on Adv Rider, one had it's top end replaced under warranty, apparently something related to the air box, but maybe that is a model year specific issue or something.

Keep those pony's reined in.

mr_anonymous Well a decision has been made and the nod goes to the KTM.
First up, ergonomics on the KTM feel much better than the Strom which is very similar to the 650, bars too high, seat is too low and pegs just feel wrong.
I know I could lower the pegs, make the seat higher but the KTM fits me out of the box.
Then there is the power, Strom makes good power but the KTM is like a drug with the throttle controlling the dose.
Look for my XT in the Australian Fleabay.

alfie53 here in Australia they don't give you the option of "base" models on niche big bikes such as GS, GSA, KTM, Multistrada etc, They are all loaded up with all/most of the available fruit.
So they're always going to be mid K$20s to K$30 ride-away price.
My VStrom, just about the first one sold in NSW, was out the door for $15.5K - so it was an easy decision for me.
I ordered some Suzuki options and waited a month since they weren't in the country when the bikes arrived - got great discounts on hard bags, engine bars, centre stand) and didn't have to fork out any more cash till they came in.

Yea and I'm feeling the same way. The XT is such a good bike every time I think about trading it in for something else I change my mind. When I hit this billion dollar Powerball I'll buy us both a Duc, how's that?

Bugzy The VStrom was unrideable due to the recall issue, and the KTM wouldn't start.

There just aimed at people with different size budgets, as both are within my financial grasp, I put the question out there.
The Multistrada is a different bike again, with a different target audience.
If you are referring to the Tiger XC, it is aimed at a more off road market, much like the 1190R.
Likewise with BMW's, different models attract different types of riders.
I really like the ergonomics of the 1190 the Strom's not so much, on the other hand, I like the ergonomics of my DR but I don't like the 690 Enduro, love the engine, seating position and rear fuel tank, not so much.
So apart from price, it's about feeling at home on the bike, being comfortable and not forgetting the grin factor.

Test rides today, I'll be back
We expect a full analysis, 1/4 mile times, etc. Nothing less.....
