Haven't ridden it on a motorcycle, but a bicycle race I used to do every year finished at the top. It's a tough climb on a bicycle, and the race was point to point, so unless you had someone at the top with a vehicle to take you back to the start, you got to ride back down the mountain. That's pretty fun on a bike, albeit a bit scary at points, and also quite chilly for the first half. One year it was so cold at the top that I grabbed about four brown garbage bags from some campers and wore them like ponchos for the first half of the trip down.
I'd always wanted to go back and explore that area on the motorcycle. The state park area is really nice. Next time I'm going to the BRP, I'll have to make a detour.

|Spikester||Yes it's paved nice and smooth, about 8 or 9 miles to the dome so if you don't get hung up behind cars it's a fun run.|

|Spikester||The road to Clingman's Dome is really fun, we came around a curve going too fast and almost hit a bunch of bikes stopped in the road in a blind, bluff lined curve. Some cars stopped to talk and had about 6 bikes held up in the curve. The overlook there is impressive.|

|Stromburger||Will be going there June 2nd. Been up Grandfather Mt.----gives me the willies. Something about the altitude and openess at the top. Mt. Mitchell is a fun, short easy ride up. Hope to do Clingman's Dome on the way to the Dragon.|

Anybody ride Roan Mountain just off the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina? I've yet to venture that far north on the parkway and want to go to Grandfather Mt. and the Diamondback Loop.
