I'm considering the same....

I'm considering selling my 04 BMW 1150 GSA, and going for the 2014 Vee standard (a red one!) :-)

I agree with Sober Joe and others - I'd rather buy my own racks, bags, skid plate, and handguards - certainly more durable and probably about the same money. I will also want to add a center stand, crash bars, top case, aux LED lights, beefier horn and heated grips. And "maybe" a more comfy seat, but we'll see whether that's needed or not.

I'm also thinking of waiting a few months until a few people get disillusioned and buying a used one! So if anyone has made the jump to the 14 Vee, but not satisfied, let me know... :-)

Picking the bike up in a couple of weeks - I can't wait. I have been off with 2 broken sticks since the end of May!

LoFlow Very sweet set up Soberjoe.

soberjoe I went to see mine at the shop today. Since my ankles are still about a week away from being strong enough to bring her home, I have had the dealer bolt on or apply all of the farkle that I have bought so far, for a nominal fee.
To date, I have a standard Khaki V2 with: SW Motech crash bars; SW Motech skid plate; SW Motech exhaust valve guard; SW Motech brake pump guard; Denali DM driving lights w / crash bar mounts; Suzuki center stand; Suzuki '1000' graphics package; Suzuki tank pad; Givi X308 tank bag and tank lock ring; Oxford Heaterz premium adventure grips; Barkbusters VPS hand guards; R&G aluminum radiator guard.

I cannot wait to bring Big Ethel home

bubbaj IMO standard is the better bang for the buck. You pay a lot for cheapish items on adventure. Better off going standard and farkle it the way you want

Never bought crap for my bikes...

This is bike number 20, and I've never, ever bought accessories for them. I've fixed, repaired, and rebuilt, but never spent money on "fun" stuff.
Went with the Standard as it was cheaper, and since add peg lowering kit, Givi XS308 and will be buying topcase (pretty sure it will be the Shad setup), better wind screen, and crash guard. Suzuki's stuff just didn't seem to have the quality or value given the money.
Getting ready to change oil at 600 miles, really enjoying it, hoping to make it a long term proposition.

jmackd1 I wanted a black V-Strom, the SE was the only option, I took off the stock sidecases, didn't like them and have the SHAD 36 litre now...

And here I thought I was the only one who missed the helmet lock, it's the first thing I looked for when I saw the bike on display, it was almost a deal breaker

I asked and they through in a very solid OEM center stand, a must for me.

3. The bags are perfect for me, narrow so I can split traffic and when removed there is no bracket (have to show off my Yoshimura exhaust), first hard luggage I ever had, honestly I don't like the look (OK, let her rip, I can take it!!)
4. Both windscreens suck, went with aftermarket
5. The crash guards are really nice
6. Of the three, it's the color I wanted, black, silver and gray
7. I'm lazy, it cut down on my farkling
8. Good price, but I'm not price sensitive
