Hmmm, i also have a K4 with stock windscreen ( no madstad bracket or anything) and i find perfect for my height, im 182cm (5'11.5" - 6ft) with stock windscreem at highest position, i could ride on the highway going 120km/h (70mph) with my visor open no problem. In really hot rummer days, i just slide it all the way downto lowest position or sometimes just take it all off to "imitate" the feeling of a naked motorcycle :biggrinjester:

For gravel roads

Mitas E07 tyres a good 50/50 tyre.

Scott steering damper for sand and gravel

I use a Airhawk cushion on the seat. Screen seems fine on my '13 model.

I didn't like the standard handlebars, so I fitted high bend ATV bars and 2inch risers.

Possibly consider a radiator guard too.

griffondude Hi there! I'm a relatively new owner, so I just went through the same decisions you are making now. My research yielded the following:
Fork brace: Richlandrick makes and sells a good quality, affordable product that really works. Great service from him as well. AdventureTech, LLC. - Home
Engine guards: I like the Givi for the price / quality ratio and the compatibility with other farkles. Sold everywhere.
Belly pan is not on your list but if you are going to do gravel roads, you should probably consider it. I chose the Hyde Racing one. It is light, thin and inconspicuous. Unless you plan on hopping logs or grounding on rocks, it will be enough to protect the soft underbelly of the bike in most practical situations. Oh, ya, it's also half the price of the metal, heavy duty skid plates and does not suffer from resonance or sound amplification issues.
Suzuki DL650 V-Strom Motorcycle Accessories brought to you by Hyde Racing!
My K4 is equipped with a stock windshield that I found totally inadequate, but the addition of a Madstad bracket makes it acceptable. Your Wee will have different aerodynamic properties so that may not be true for you.
I love my K4 and I hear the new ones are an improvement in every department so I know you'll enjoy yours! Best bike I ever owned, hands down.

I see you are from Canada. Check out and

Skinny Rick thank you for your input. Any recommendations on the fork brace and engine guards?

raoufhakam First of all, congrats on the new bike, you'll love it and welcome to the forum
As for farkles, i personally dont see an aftermarket seat and windscreen as necessary -i know everyone is gonna fight me over this-
A fork brace and an engine guard are a must, the rest is just to make life easier but not extremly important. Fork brace will make highway and windy days a breeze, engine guard will keep your new shiny fairings clean in the unfortunate case of a tip over
I personally did a 4,000km (2,500mile) trip on my 04' Wee with stock seat and windscreen, mind you im only 23 but it was my first long trip and wasnt hard with these.

notacop If you don't like the ADV boxy panniers, maybe Givi would work for you. I had a set of Givi Monokey or something on another bike...good stuff.
The Wee deserves boxy ADV stuff carriers but to each their own!
My Wee has Sea Horse panniers, they are like Pelican but less expensive. Kinda boxy though.

Big B Welcome to the forum and I suggest hanging out in the 650 section, especially the 12 and up.

New wee strom farkles

Hello all, I just ordered a 2014 DL650 today. joined stromtroopers and would like a bit of advise. seems like everyone replaces the windshield, adds a fork brace and new seat are these necessary? i intend to do some daily driving as well as 7 to 10 day trips. Also probably 25 -30% gravel roads. Any advice on what else I might need? Is there a general consensus on the best aftermarket windshield or seat and luggage. I don't like the square aluminum box luggage. A little style please.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.
