From there I rode into Athens and had some lunch. Worked my way home on US50 but made sure I hit Rt 356 (Probably the best road in Ohio that no one talks about.) All in all, about 330 miles

Felt better after the break - looping to get past a closed road was seriously annoying when I was hot and hungry - being 8 miles away initially and taking a circuitous route to get there I was growling. Refreshed and after a false start up a rather perilous flood relief route 78 turned into a lot of fun - superb pavement - it's an Ohio Byway and very much worth the ride - better than 555 in my view....begs for speed. Ohio State Route 78 | Ohio Motorcycle Roads and Rides | MotorcycleRoads.com I did the section that crosses 555 And some really smooth tighter curves that drop away without the gotchas of 555. Fun and relaxing and some challenge a speed - reliable road surface encourages pushing it. Low traffic. Another that swings off 78 is 83 and brand new very grippy smooth pavement that puts you on rails, I'd love to do 78 end to end but I suggest the section that crosses 555 is likely best. New Concord to Millersburg via SR 83 | Ohio Motorcycle Roads and Rides | MotorcycleRoads.com THIS ...however is a bit over the top in title and they are not all gentle winding turns by any means. So titlat overstaes and descriptin understates how good this some of this road is Saw a delightful pair of fawns in the afternoon...not much else. |

I went out yesterday on the ST1300. Did 78 from Glouster to Caldwell. Great road! Then I hit 339 south from Dexter City to Watertown. The section of 339 between Dexter and Beverly was some of the best road I've ridden in Ohio...lots of fun. I then took 676 west. Another great road. I got on 555 and went south to 550 and started the 2 hour trip west to the south western part of Ohio. 555 was a little bit of a mess, lots of gravel. All in all a great day, about 415 miles. "Hardley" traffic was a little heavy at times. I generally prefer to ride on weekdays but a new work schedule no longer allows that. The mighty ST1300 preformed well, especially on the more "wide open" roads like St Rt 78. I still think the Wee does a bit better job...at least I'm more confident in my abilities on it. |
