Riding Season

Great couple of months for Fall riding in Maine.

Hope everyone is getting out there while the weather lasts.

Nice shots, Whaler! Thanks for sharing them.

Been getting out for the last few weekends and successfully "suiting up" for warm comfortable rides: learning about the critical importance of a "windbreaker" level over my two layers of long undies and under my overpants and (partial) mesh jacket (can't afford to spring for a Kilimanjaro jacket this fall...looking longingly at heated gear, too).

On the Saturday of the recent "freak" Nor'easter, we rode for four hours in the morning and saw nary another rider in our travels.

Don't want to put up Blanche for the winter just yet. A few warm weekdays predicted for next week. I might "get sick and not be able to get to work".

Black Lab, I was wondering if you were out there somewhere................youve been quite. Hope all is well

BabaAus, yes I too look at heated gear with want in my eye. Although I have put a few thousand miles on this Fall, and even with heated grips its mostly my hands that get cold.................ok I admit thats a lie. Last week on a 225 mile round trip for work and I left my house a 7am 36 degrees. About 30 min later I was saying out loud in my helmet, ok this is figgin cold, this is stupid, I'm done, this is my last ride for the season. But then on the way home and its warmed up to 50 degrees or so, I am just as please as can be that i am enjoying the day on my bike. Besides, you never really know when or even if you will get to ride again. Nothing is guaranteed so get out and enjoy these bonus days folks.

Yes, I know. I have been focused on the beginnings of making a "transition" in my life. I have been cleaning out my life, (and garage!), of stuff, and starting the process of rearranging it. The plans for a Sonex airplane are going to arrive on my doorstep this coming Monday. I am going to give it a go, Whaler! It will be a scratch built effort. YIKES!

Here is what the plane looks like: Sonex -- The Sport Aircraft Reality Check!

We need to make time to walk another "line" together! I appreciated the company and the conversation that we shared at the Greenville Floatplane Fly-in, back in September.

Remember this rig?

What a life, huh? Pick up water and drop it. It's got its "ups and downs", but it wouldn't be a bad way to make a living! Plus, it is the most "badass" looking plane that there is! (Gotta paint it Rhinoliner black though!).

that's cool Barry

one of my long time employees that I had to let go last winter is building an ultralight ? I'm not sure, smaller than the Sonex for sure, I think it only weights less than 300. I'm pretty sure its a design he bought the plans from PM, last I knew he was close to completing it, he bought a crashed plane with a good prop & rotax engine
