It's that time of year

Watch out; the DPW is out sweeping the winter sand out of the gutters - and are distributing alot of it back out into the lanes. Went through two towns in western Mass. that were pretty bad yesterday!

Did over 200 miles in the Adirondacks today. Our winter was mild at best, and the roads held up well. Small amount of sand in spots, and you always must look out for gravel coming from side roads. As a former cyclist, I always have an eye on the blacktop looking for potential problems. Another eye looking ahead and in the mirrors, and an eye out for LE. Hey, that makes three eyes.

We have lots of sand or "corner marbles" all over the intersections that have been heavily treated all winter with ice/snow. Usually have to wait for the first big spring rain to wash them out and make them decent to ride through. Has been very warm the past 2 weeks and have been able to ride but the "pucker factor" definitely increases when coming into any intersections, especially with any speed. Ride safe and keep the sticky side down!
