MTSFMCW - Mohawk Trail.....2016

..... State Forest Motorcycle Camping Weekend 2016...
Greetings Folks,
Well, the time has come to reserve the group site at Mohawk Trail State Forest in Charlemont, MA for the annual camping weekend. BUT......
Well, come April Patty and I will be staging our new to us 30' travel trailer toy hauler for an extended tour out west. We'll be leaving some time in May for what will be, I'm sure, longer than a year long journey.
So, I won't have the time to put this together for 2016. If anybody else wants to pick up the gauntlet, it's pretty easy. Go to the ReserveAmerica site and make the reservation, then announce here! Or you can PM me here for advice. I will be taking some rides, of course, but will be pretty busy making the land yacht ready to voyage. :-)
Ride safe, all.

Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. - quote attributed to Helen Keller.

Well that sounds like an adventure for sure! Gini and I have talked about doing the same thing in the future. Hope you start a thread so we can follow along...

I'm sure someone will step up and takeover....

Pete

Ride safe all. And yeah, still riding here... next 4 days after tomorrow in mid to upper 50's maybe 60! WooHooooo!!

"I'm sure someone will step up and takeover...." Pete, you must be an eternal optimist!
At this time, it would be safe to assume that NO ONE is going to take over this Mohawk Trail weekend while Gary is off on some retirement thing(lol). Is it possible for the usual cast of characters to chime in with their imput? You guys know who you are. I for one would like to see this continued, but have no time to get the ball rolling. Maybe an email list of the previous years from Gary can be acquired. Regardless, anyone else gave thoughts as to how to pull this off? Just saying

AAggghh!
I was all ready to book the group site we've had in the past and it's already booked! I figured early Feb. would be early enough but that site is booked until the second weekend in July.
So, if anyone else is thinking about keeping this campout alive, you better get cracking! I'll be on vacation with the wife and I suspect many others start to have vacation conflicts by that date.
But if anyone wants to poll the group to see what the interest is for a campout 7/8 - 7/10, site 1 is still available then. The site is $35./night.

That's why I posted in December about securing the site! I always made the reservation 6 months to the day prior ( can reserve 6 months out ). Cudos to Steve for giving it a shot! There are many individual campsites there at Mohawk. Perhaps folks who want to meet up there could reserve some of the individual sites that may be nearby each other and still have a camp out, riding weekend. If it comes off and I'm still around maybe I can join for a day or an overnight. Will monitor here.
Only a few more weeks until spring, kids!! WooHoooooo
Ride safe all.

How about an alternative site. This place looks interesting and is only a few miles north of Mohawk...

Yes I am.....lol.

Since Mohawk seems to have passed us by this year, would anyone be interested in a get together at Silver Lake campground in VT, either the weekend before or after Fathers Day? It's a pretty central location for most of the regulars and if you've never stayed at a VT State Park Campground, they are usually top notch. The campground is on the Puppy Dog Trail and close to the VT Gaps, so the riding will be excellent!!!

What say ye???

Pete,
I am in for sure. I would be happy to help if needed. You can't beat Vermont for riding.
