Well. That there is funny. Guess I should have expected it.

Ok, other than greywolf, anyone else?

Just seems like us Midwest guys are the exception.

Strommers from the upper midwest DO seem to be a little less common than in some areas. There seem to be quite a few around the Indianapolis area, and there are a lot in south central Ohio, which is where I usually end up going for group events. There are also handful from SE Michigan, near Ann Arbor/Jackson.

I know there are at least 5 or 6 from the Chicago area besides you and Greywolf, and there are a couple other V-Strom owners in the SW corner of Michigan where I live, but they aren't on this forum, that I know of. There are also a few in Wisconsin that I see post fairly often, but I am not sure where they are located.
If you ever want to make a run around the south end of the lake, let me know and I can show you some of the better roads SW Michigan has to offer.

I know of two more in Evanston and another in the area. We'll see more chime in I'll bet.

I saw somebody today on a yellow Wee riding north as I was going home from Wisconsin headed south on 41.

Strom in Oak Park

I'm Greg Lewis, and I live in Oak Park. I've had a 2004 wee strom for about 2 months, and am loving it. Usually head for WI, where the great roads are. Last week I did the Cheese Country Trail - a great ride, and good on a wee if you aren't too aggressive with your right hand.

Always looking to meet up and ride/talk.

Vee strommer from Chicago's far south here. Tinley and Orland...hey, you're practically neighbors!

Thanks to metro area traffic, Chicago Strommers are more seperated by congestion drive time
than distance. Sadly, it's as effective.

I rode to my first East Gathering in 2008 just to see someone else riding a V-Strom.

I went to the Sunday morning meet at the Full Moon restaurant in Lake Bluff a month or so ago and there were 3 or 4 Stroms there. That's a long way from Tinley Park but not as far as North Carolina and not a sure thing.

I think you are referring to the the Chicago Dual Sport group out that way. I have ridden with that group a few times and always see a strom or two.

Any riders from the Orland/Tinley area or Chicago area in general, give a shout out on this thread next time.

I'm always looking for a riding partner to go out that way. Sometimes going up to see those guys up there is as long a ride as the group ride itself.

Illinois Motorcycle “Dead” Light Law

"Motorcycle riders in Illinois will now have the ability to legally run a red light starting January 1st.

The state legislature passed a bill earlier this year that would allow motorcycle riders stopped at a traffic light to proceed through the red phase of the light after waiting 120 seconds and checking to make sure they can cross the intersection safely.

The law was instituted on the behest of motorcycle riders who would often have to wait for long periods of time at traffic lights that used in ground sensors to change the signal. Most motorcycles are not heavy enough to trigger the in pavement sensors.

Unfortunately for Chicago riders, the statewide law does not apply within Chicago city limits."

Aren't we Special? :furious:

What are you waiting for, heated gear? I've ridden to lunch in Wisconsin at least a few times every month this winter.

The concept of riding to Wisconsin for mid-winter lunch gives me the chills. I did make it to The Launching Pad
on old Route 66 in Wilmington last week. Cage was laid up. I rode the Vee to get parts...and took a short cut.
