Around Lake Michigan Ride June 25th and June 26th

I have this ride posted on the CLSB forum. Thought I would post it here to see if anyone is interested:

Lake Michigan Tour: Rain or shine, June 25th and 26th. Meet at Chicago Southland Oasis 294/80 Milepost 1 Mobile Station. The Oasis is just east of Halsted St when headed eastbound on 294/80.

Day I
Saturday, June 25th:
8:00 Meetup
8:30 Departure

We will hug the lake as much as possible and hit the following towns along the way until we break east to cross the Mackinaw bridge: Michigan City, St. Joseph, Saugatuck, Port Sheldon, Muskegon, Silver Lake State Park, Ludington, Manistee, Beulah, Traverse City, Charlevoix (right around here you will be wondering if the day will ever end, it will, enjoy the scenery and the ride, it's amazing), Petoskey, Mackinaw City, St. Ignace (Look for a place to bed up for the night).

Day II
Sunday, June 26th:
Departure 9:00 AM (in theory, may be as late as 10)

We will hit the following cities: Naubinway, Manistique, Escanaba, Menominee, Green Bay, Manitowoc, Sheboygan, Milwaukee, Chicago (people may want to break off in and around here to head to their respective homes).

The ride will be a nice and relaxed pace. Speed limit (keeping up with traffic) for the most part. Fuel and rest stops will be determined by need and who has the shortest range. There will be opportunities for photos but not extended side excursions (unless we get lost, then that's another story). This is a 1000 plus miles in two days. It is very doable. The longest stretch for me last year was after hitting Traverse City. The road kept going and going and going. Day I will be a long day but well worth it. If you are considering this ride I would prefer that you have had experience with long rides and at least a year or two worth of riding experience under your belt.

Check your bike as thoroughly as possible before the ride. Fluid levels, tire tread, tire inflation, tighten hardware bits/pieces, check chain (lube it) and whatever else you need to do to prep your bike.

You could do this ride with just your riding gear and some cash and be perfectly happy! Things I am bringing (do not give me a hard time about this, your needs may vary! Gloves and liners, LD comfort shorts LDComfort - Getting to the Bottom of Rider Comfort - Motorcycle Underwear , Leather jacket and leather pants http://www.kneedraggers.com/product/...ather-Overpant , jacket liner, textile pants, rain gear (frogg toggs) Frogg Toggs Elite Highway Rain Gear , 1 pair of jeans, boots, shorts and tshirt, extra pair of underwear and socks, compressor, tire patch kit, chain lube, small first aid kit, tool kit, electrical tape, duck tape, zip ties, ziplock bags quart and gallon size, gps, cash, debit card, credit card, emergency information, helmet and two shields clear and smoke, baklava , tank bag, snacks, water, lip balm, toothbrush, toothpaste. I am probably forgetting a few things. I will add to this list later.

PM or post up if you are interested. Keith

Thanks for the reminder. I forgot about this thread. July 23 and July 24. However, the ride will be in reverse of what I originally posted. We will start off on the Wisconsin side and end on the Michigan side.
