HELP! DocSabre has Fork Trouble on the road in Lansing.

DocSabre is on a cross-country trek to North Carolina.

He's near Lansing, Michigan with a leaking fork seal.

He asked me to forward a message to the Michigan area Troopers:

If anyone knows of a bike shop in the area that might have the parts and could do the work on a Saturday (July 10th) he he would be most appreciative.

He plans on heading toward West Virginia on his way to Western North Carolina and will also be traveling through Toledo, Ohio.

He currently doesn't have internet access and asked me to look into this for him. I'll be checking the site more compulsively than usual.

Thanks,

Norm

First, try running a piece of 35mm film or the thinnest leaf in a feeler gauge around the seal to tube junction at an angle that would push any foreign material up and out.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

Thanks, I forgot about that one.

Checked with Full Throttle, they can do it, but no seals in stock.

BTW, he said the bike is handling strange.

You can try Groves as well - it's in Mason - about 5 miles south of Lansing.

Holiday Power Sports

Holiday Power Sports in Michigan Center just south of Jackson on 127 is another option. Having the seals in stock will be a tough one...

They are also a Suzook dealer, in Ann Arbor, south of Lansing off I94/Zeeb rd exit. A bigger shop, might have seals.

Also, in Dearborn [metro Detroit area]: bigger dealer too!
