I'm trying to get an idea of how many would be interested.
The plan so far will be as follows...
Meet up somewhere between Akron and Youngstown early on a Saturday in late August.
I was thinking the Circle restaurant in Deerfield. Break into groups no larger than 3-4 riders of similar experience and riding style. Head directly south, riding through mid-eastern Ohio hills (I'm working on the route details, but the goal will be to ride as little 4-lane as possible). Each group would wait at given checkpoints for the group before, before leaving out for the next, so first in, first out. This way we could take care of problems along the way as needed, but give everyone a lot of room to ride without the problems of a large group. The intended route will do the triangle- including Ohio's dragon route 536, and route 555 up to Zanesville.
It's a very scenic area with very challenging roads; a nice ride if we can get decent weather in late August / early september.
Some of the roads I have in mind are:
The Carrollton area
route 9, to Carrollton
routes 43, 646,
area south of I70:
routes 536, 78, 800, 26 over to Marietta to Belpre to 555 to Zanesville.
From there ??
Some details to work out would be the least straight (most fun) way to get from the Carrollton area to the triangle area south of 70, and where to go after 555 ends in Zanesville.
So, who's in?
