The Weather

What just happened. It was in the 60's yesterday and now it's in the low 20's? Indiana (midwest in general) has some freaky strange weather.

Try Minnesota. I live the exurbs of Minneapolis, and last night's low at my house was 4 above (We use above or below in MN to describe the temperature in the winter.). Today is cooler (15 above at noon) than yesterday, but at least we don't have the 25-40 mph winds.

I changed the oil in my motorcycle last Saturday, and it will probably remain parked in my garage until March at the earliest. What were my ancestors thinking when they settled here 170 years ago???

Thought about riding today but the 14F temp with a 7F windchill made my truck look like a good choice. I gotta get some heated gear.

I've got admit I'm not prepared for winter. Yes, it is well underway here in Wisconsin but it's just not fair. Did a 400+ mile trip a couple weeks ago. Camped. Got my bags situated. The new bike is running really good. Now winter. Wind Chill of 1 degree today. Supposed to be in the 40's on Monday but raining. That even sounds good.

When Spring comes, meaning the first 40 degree day in March, things do start looking better.

But I have been getting a lot done lately. Hmmmm.

I am glad I have a snowmobile right now. Last weekend, I logged about 40 miles. Helps curb my strom urge.
The snow is starting to melt so hopefully I can ride the DRZ400 this weekend.

I hear you loud and clear Strompro...I missed my riding for two weeks and thanks to electrics I donned my Aerostich vest, Gerbing gloves etc. and headed to work last Sat. at 5:00 am. It was in the 20's in southern Indiana but I arrived at work wide warm and wide awake only to suffer the normal oral abuse from the rest of my peers...I cannot explain to these folks that even winter riding (with certain limits) can be a different and enjoyable experience...and of course the Strom did not notice any difference! Merry Christmas to all.

The roads between Clay City (home) and Terre Haute (work) are still icy in spots and I just can't work up the nerve to ride the strom. I did take the DRZ out on Sunday during a snow fall. I had a rude awakening when I left my barn. Yep, there was ice under that nice coating of snow. I went on ahead and rode into town (about 7 miles) and it was spooky. Very slick and stopping was absolutely hair raising.

I never bit it though. It was good to be on the bike again, and I made sure to log some December miles.
