WooHoo! 45 Degrees = Riding Weather!

Anybody else here in the great white north get out and take advantage of the warm (I know it sounds funny to say that, but compared to single digits...)?

I got out for about an hour this afternoon, took a quick ride around Lake Minnetonka. The roads were mostly dry, all the snowy patches were gone (at least from the major roads). Didn't even need the hippo hands - just mid-season gloves and the grip warmers. Felt awfully good to get back on the bike, even for just a little while. But I think this is my last hurrah for the foreseeable future - temps in the teens forecast in a coupla days.

Sorry for the crappy cell-phone pix, didn't think to bring the real camera.

Garage
It hit 60 here today. The roads are wet, filthy and salty so I'm waiting a couple of days so the rain can wash things away. Then I'll go out in the 40s on dry roads or at least with unsalted, relatively clean water.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

Yeah, the bike was pretty grimy after the ride. I took a big watering can and a washing brush out into the driveway and cleaned most of the salty residue off. I'm sure my neighbors think I'm a loon (and an obsessive one, at that).

Talking 73 F today here, but windy

Must be a record, but 73 with 25-30 mph winds, and cloudy. Rode up highway 94 to Golden Eagle Ferry, then through calhoun county IL to Brussels IL, then over to Brussels Ferry, then up the Riverroad to alton, and back. Beautiful ride, a little over a hundred miles. Should have put those heated grips on, but man it was nice. Two days of rain are next.

As much as I wanted to, I resisted. Not with all the salt that's out there on the roads. Instead I spent time outside doing some ice removal, chain sawing a few logs for woodworking purposes, and moving an old sofa from our house to the next-door neighbor's house (their taking it to their weekend getaway).

But it sure felt good being out in those few hours of warm sun. Heck, for a while there I didn't even have a jacket on, just a t-shirt.

Only 11 weeks until spring arrives!!

New to this board - replying to Oh2RideMore. You were riding in God's country today. Isn't that stretch of road just awesome? Rode it many times last summer. I am from over on the IL side.

I was out Bemidji was 40 degrees, I took a 25 mile ride on some pretty dry pavement, I was out the week before Christmas and today was actually a bit more of a challange. I have aprox 1/2 mile of gravel that is now hard packed snow and today was just warm enough make it slippery. Any of you guys have sugestions on tires ect. for the Wee. I just can't put the darn thing away for the winter Are any of you going to the motorcycle show Feb 2, Iam thinking of taking my sons and wife down, I think i have found the bike for me for some time but always fun to look. After today I am pretty sure my 05 Nomad will be for sale this spring this Wee is way to much fun and what a confidence builder. I know ATGATT
