poor quality GIVI bolts and paint

they're freaking soft as butter, and paint already pills off straight from the box.
If you have bad luck and very tight thread somewhere or bolt is painted
it's very easy to strip it. Happened to me twice already. I think I'll give on GIVI
accessories.

Maybe sourcing quality bolts would be a good option. You could call for a warranty. But in my experience, you may want to considering a different box.

I've purchased a couple of Givi tank bags over the last 3 years, all the zippers have failed. Tank bags costing $150 - $250, multiple zipper failures. On one occasion Givi customer service tech gave me a hard time about it.

Their product looks good, but does not stand the test of time.

Maybe others have had a better experience, but I'll never purchase Givi again. Good luck!

hex head or allen head? what product specifically?

I didn't care for the allen head bolts that came with my motech engine guards, ordered hex head flange bolts online to replace.

the zipper on my zip to strap-on-base motech tank bag I have has lasted 2 stroms and 60k miles.

14 tooth for me

The bolts that came with my PLR3105 side rack kit were a little lame. Hex and easily stripped with too much muscle. I might just replace them at some point.

Otherwise, all Givi products I have purchased in the past, and there are many, have been of good quality.

yeah, hex bolts - I wanted to install givi tn3101 what should be easy job, but no...
one bolt was painted I guess because of it went harder, by the end of the thread hex was almost stripped,
but got it out somehow. I would put other bolt it's one that goes into some indentation so need to cone shaped.
Need to buy one or return product.

BTW my givi racks after 4 years on other bike was rusted like 40%

I installed the Tn 3101 on my bike about 6 months ago, Painted them with a quality auto
primer and metal flake silver before putting them on the bike.

Issues : Allen head bolts that mounted the rear portion of the bars extremely hard to get
tightened up all the way.

Had issue with front cross bolt section Rattle (there is a thread on this) To which I replaced the cross bolt
with a larger diameter after drilling the mount out and wrapping the tube spacer ends in black electrical tape.

Everything working fine now. But would not want to have to remove those side bolts again.
And I used anti seize on them prior to install.

Never had an issue with the bolts on Givi stuff but I totally agree that the paint on their products is crap. Paint on Crashbars generally lasts a year or so over here before it starts to blister from underneath. They use absolutely no undercoating and poor quality paint.

Its never too late to have a happy childhood
