Speed reads 0, od not moving, all else on cluster ok

Had an hour ride on my 2012 650 up the turnpike Friday for a meeting. Everything was fine. After a four hour meeting I got back on the bike and while everything else on the instrument cluster was good, the speed read zero and the odometer stayed at the same mileage reading.

I've inspected and cleaned the sensors on the wheels. My son, a mechanic, checked the wires on the sensors and the fuses.

I don't have a service manual (assuming my 04 manual for my original bike won't be of much use), will be correcting that tonight.

Anything obvious that I'm not checking? Not so obvious?

Thanks

I can tell you my cluster failed on my 2014 after I rode in a heavy downpour. First the speed started jumping around and then other things went out. I ended up buying a new speedo cluster after checking all the wires. When I got the cluster apart it looked like some water got in the back. Under the advice of a mechanic, I sealed up the top of the cluster cover as best I could with black silicone. Good luck.

Maybe a problem with the speed sensor/pickup at the front sprocket?

I don't want a pickle, I just want to ride my motorsickle. A. Guthrie.
