Randy, I have 2 of these, one is about 50 years old, got when I was 16, the other was for work. That, and a pair of brake spring pliers will do it all for pull-type springs.
With that lever tool, youre done before you know what you did.

Similar to the tip by cavedweller22, but using the wheel rotation to open the spring set (https://www.vstrom.info/Smf/index.php/topic,1619.0.html). Yes you did read correctly, there are normally two springs, one within the other, on most of the center stands.

Big Boy, thanks for the "coins in the springs" trick! I am altering and replacing my side stand on my 14' Vee, and this trick will come in handy. Vautti

yes wear glasses, yes you made a good call ordering a spring puller. as someone said, pay attention to spring orientation. Use a good waterproof grease as well.

Centerstand arrived but still waiting on the spring puller. Suspect it will be installed this weekend.

Install was pretty easy. Read the instructions several times to understand what bolts and spacer to use on each side, pay attention to the spring placement, don’t tighten all the bolts until everything is together. I installed the rubber spacer before the part was on the bike which made it easier. And it would of been a royal PITA if I didn’t have a spring tool. Those springs take some serious effort to pull back.
End result, money well spent

This is my homemade spring puller from a 5gal bucket. Worked great when I installed my center stand.

I originally devised it for putting exhaust springs on me GasGas.
