Outback Motortek vs Happy Trails Crash Bars and Skid Plate

Hello,
I just purchased a 2017 650 xt and am getting ready to purchase some protection for the bike. I live in Utah and plan on riding a mix of fire roads and pavement and possibly some desert terrain. I am torn between going with Outback Motortek and Happy Trails. Can anyone speak from experience on which one they prefer or speak to the comments I have below? Here is a list of my concerns/knowlege...

Outback Skid Plate and bars:
Claims to have better clearance than happy trials
Does not mention weight
Better profile, sleeker look
Bars have better mounting
$150 more

Happy Trials Skid Plate and bars:
I heard this setup reduces clearance by 2 inches
Has a weight, is it less or more than Outback Motortek?
Skid Plate is HUGE
Read that if the bike does fall the bar connection under the radiator will crumple possibly damaging radiator
I like that the bars go up higher than the Outback and have the option to include bags
$150 less

Any .02 cents would be appreciated!

I can't comment on the Happy trails kit. All I can tell you is that I have the Outback Motortek protection kit, and it's :|:|:|:|ing ridiculous. I've beat the absolute crap out of the kit off road and it's held up amazingly. The kit holds most of it's weight in the skid plate, which helps keep the center of gravity low. I haven't lost or damaged a piece of my bike yet...…. excluding crash protection ;P

Both my stroms have had Outback Motortek and have been heavily tested from my lack of off road skills well the first one anyways. They have always held up the protection is awesome I really like their combos with the center stand, plate, and bars it fits well and does a great job. I can attest to their amazing customer service as well if you check my old posts there's one where I go over the whole story but they definitely stand behind their stuff and fixing any issue.

I have the Outback set. I like the looks and they are pretty beefy looking at least. I've only had a couple low speed off since installing them and a couple mild skid plate hang ups. No damage to the bike and just minor scuffs of the skid plate.

The crash bars come up plenty far to protect the bike when layed down.

I have no experience with the Happy Trails.

Outback Motortek

Just voicing a vote for the OM set up. Just personally ordered myself the full kit with a center stand. Not Installed yet but I'll let y'all know how it goes. Best of luck making a choice for your strom.
