Klim Carlsbad

Has anyone used this gear? If so what are thoughts on adventure riding with it (say 80/20), how does it fit, and how good is rain proofing. thanks

Revzilla has a vid and owners reviews on this jacket, it’s both a great resource and vendor.

Largest KLIM retailer in the USA is Alex Johnson at Black Hills Moto, give Alex a call he has treated me right over the years and he will treat you right as well. He stocks close to $500,000 in KLIM all the time.

Thanks Bigjohnsd. I got a local dealer giving a pretty decent discount - just wanted to know if they are worth it or look other places.

I have had the Klim Latitude jacket for about a year now. I tried the Latitude and the Carlsbad on several times before making my decision, so I'm pretty familiar with the Carlsbad.

I have been quite pleased with the Latitude: waterproof, and good venting for warm-hot days. If the Carlsbad fits you well, and has the features you like, the 2 jackets are very similar in materials and construction that I have no doubt it would work well.

I made my decision based on the cut (Latitude fit me just a bit better, the Carlsbad was a little boxy); the position of the vents (I thought the Latitude would vent a little better behind the windscreen on my bike.) and the pockets ( I like and use a lot of pockets.)

At some point I was between Carlsbad and Latitude. Decided on Latitude. Why? More areas covered with thicker fabric and better fit in waist area (velcro belt). A definite NO for me in Carlsbad jacket were completely open hand pockets (not seal, no zipper, nothing). And this is waterproof jacket. go figure.

Shu,

Thanks, this is exactly what I was looking for. I did the same. And what you state is what I thought (just I liked the Carlsbad fit better LOL).

1) Carlsbad jacket was lighter in feel (both a pro but I thought might be a con in not as durable or protective)
2) Latitude definitely fit more snug (I'm built like a caveman), which for me was a negative as I felt it might hinder me off road, but on road it would be a great fit
3) In regard to pants (thought about mix-matching) I was torn. I liked the feel on both, but latitude felt heavier. I did like the pockets on the latitude pockets (hand pockets on pants versus not on the carlsbad).
4) Carlsbad pants had but protection armor vs no armor in Latitude pants.

I put my gear to the test. My riding is varied:

Pavement touring and canyon carving on my DL650;

Forest and jeep roads up Colorado passes on my DR650.........

and various places around the world on whatever I can rent and whatever roads I find: Here a DR650 in Ecuador.....
