Exclamation Lost gears on 2007 thou

So I lent my 2007 thousand to my brother who is a competent rider (no dramas there) and he called me up a short while into his ride telling me that hes lost all gears. He eventually found 2nd gear and rode it back home (no nadty noises or anything) about 50 ks. Is this something anyone else has had ? thanks guys

Is the clutch actually working. Perhaps your slave cylinder is hooped. In gear pull in the clutch, will it roll?

Inspect and lubricate your shift linkage first, many Times it’s just something binding there.

This would be the first incidence I've ever heard of, and to come out of nowhere without there being prior issues, leads me to believe it's something else.

I haven't chimed in yet on this either. Too many questions and too little information on exactly what is going on. You can remove the shift drum from these bikes. But I would first carefully look at the exterior linkage to be sure everything is tight and not slipping on a shaft.

Start with obvious stuff like the chain and sprockets, and as mentioned the shift linkage and don’t discount a clutch problem.

Ensure each time the gear leaver is pushed down or pulled up the leaver springs back to the centre position of it's own accord.
