C-Bow Orbit hard luggage cases, anyone?

I've had the Hepco Becker C-Bow racks and "Oval Street" soft bags on my previous Guzzi (my fair weather-only bike), and now transplanted (with VStrom fit racks, a rock solid mount) to my '18 650 'Strom. I like them, and I live happily within their 22-liter, modest weight capacity, and this comes from the guy hanging huge Pelican cases from on my last 'Strom 10 years ago (search the archives). They look great on this bike and construction is high quality.

My new VStrom will not be a fair weather, smooth country road garage queen. I want another set of saddle cases that are up to the task, especially for weather and dirt protection, and that means a sealed hard case. C-Bow has their 22-liter Orbit sealed hard case which I think would be a great addition to my bike.

Is anyone using, or know of anyone using this Orbit case? Impressions? And, the cover hinge mechanism on the bottom of the case, is it just flexible/folding plastic, or is it an actual hinge assembly with interlocking fingers and a metal hinge pin (i.e. a door hinge)?

Thanks much!

I wrote to MotoMachines, their reply-

"The Orbit cases have an actual hinge on a pivot. They are not the bendable hinge style. Therefore, it should theoretically last as long as you need them to. They are a great case and they have been extremely successful in terms of happy customers."

Okay, I may have some new, modestly sized hard cases in my future.

Stevet, thanks for your post. Bought my 18 650 XT in July and have been looking for some Panniers on the smaller side. Smaller bags and a lighter bracket system.
I had never heard of Hepco Becker until i saw your thread. I recently purchased the C-Bow rack and a set of the Royster soft bags. https://www.motomachines.com/hepco-b...oft-bag-yellow
I plan on getting the Orbit hard bags if the Racks and Royster bags work to my liking. Received yesterday, installing this weekend. My first impressions are of great quality.
I'll post a photo once I get them mounted.
Thanks
SB

Stuball, those Royster bags have a funky futuristic look going for them, but they work well with your yellow Strom and your riding gear.

I do like my Orbit cases very much. Very well made, and the latch mechanism clamps the cover down tight. The lock key works well, but it is small with a handle end that is 90 degrees to the male portion of the key, making the key get lost on my crowded key ring. I think I'll visit a locksmith to see if he can make an adult size pair of keys for me. Otherwise, the C-Bow lineup is a winner for me.
