Gen1 Wee Suzuki Aluminum box seals

Hello All,

I have the Suzuki SW-Motech Trax luggage on my gen 1 wee. These boxes are ALSO an older generation, I believe.

The issue I am having is the rubber seal gasket on the lid. These are of the generation where the gasket was simply attached over the lid lip and held on with friction, rather than being built into the lid as they are now. These gaskets will *not* stay in place for love or money.

They are working just fine, but need constant adjustment. Any advice on how to keep them in place? Should I take the "well, it's 7 year old rubber, maybe it's time to replace them" approach, as I can do so for about $25 through twisted throttle - I'd just rather not have to, as that means I'll spend even more to get free shipping.

Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

2011 Wee-strom and loving it.

Seals

Have you tried to glue them down with something strong like 3M yellow glue or E6000 (Shoe Goo) ?

I have the SW-Motech Trax EVO boxes. Not sure if they are the same version as yours; they were purchased in 2012. The rubber gasket in the lid has stayed in place on mine. I can pull on it and it will come loose but otherwise it has always stayed in place.

Since it is replaceable, I wouldn't use a permanent adhesive. Maybe some silicone adhesive/sealant or gasket adhesive to hold in place. That way it wouldn't be too hard to completely remove and replace.

YMMV

I have the Trax top box myself.

If the rubber rubber is sticking to the metal and coming off, I would clean the metal with windex or all purpose cleaner.

I would then wipe down the rubber with 303 to help protect it.

I noticed that in my car, during winter, when I don't wipe the rubber seal with 303, I have more cases of seal sticking to the metal on those ice days. The frequency goes down when I use the 303 product.
