Intermittent starting problem

Ok geniuses, help me out please. 2011 DL650. On hot days, particularly if parked facing uphill (which is my designated space at work), the Wee will crank and idle fine, but when I give her gas, she dies. No matter how long I let her run on flat ground, the problem won't go away. The only way I can fix it is to roll out of the parking lot, gingerly feather the throttle producing hardly any power, she will sputter for a hundred yards or so, almost die a couple of times, then it's like the air/fuel mixture has corrected itself and she will be fine. Only on a big hill or really hot days. Thoughts?

I'll bet it has to crank a few times to start. That's the usual beginning of those symptoms anyway. If the engine doesn't start right away, the intakes get excessive fuel vapor. Any time the engine doesn't start immediately, open the throttle to let in more air to compensate for the excessive fuel. The heat causes fuel vapors that require more air to balance.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

Thanks bud. I will give that a try. It usually fires right up though.

Not a genius, don't play one on TV but my wild guess is the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). Mine is bad and when it acts up it feels like an air/fuel issue, won't come off idle without feathering and then just like that it is fine.
