Removing Tail Light Sockets

Hi All:

Really dumb question. Trying to remove my tail light sockets, but cannot figure out how to get the black connectors apart. I know it has to be obvious, but apparently not. What is the trick to getting these apart? I have an 07 DL1000.

Reason being, I'd rather splice my GIVI wiring to the socket than the harness on the left sub-frame, but I guess I can do that as a last resort.

Thanks

Rear brake/tail light disassembly is 'fun' the first time. The two plastic plugs are secured together with a clip, using a flash light you should be able to see where you lift the little clip.
OR ----- you release the wiring ( which you'll do anyway ) , then twist the socket unit. Make sure you do that while holding the plastic and not the wires.
Here's a link to a diagram for your bike.

Hope you don't need to remove the lens itself, this would require the removal of the rear fender !!

Thanks. It was the lifting the clip I was not sure about. Got the lights out, but could not separate easily.

Thanks again,
