What should the price be for used stuff?///////////////////////Guy got so pissed, he acted like he wanted to fight me and the item had been for sale for over 2 months. Why do people get so offended, it’s just an offer.
I see bikes on here, all the time, priced way more than what the market is bearing. They rarely sell. Bikes that are fairly priced may sell, but the conundrum is, where is the bike located, from you. What are the laws, between your state and the seller's? On top of the asking price, how much additional money/time will be invested (travel, lien on title) for the buyer to take possession/ownership?
There's a bike currently on the classifieds, that has low mileage that is priced fairly for this time of the season. It's a 1500 mile round trip for me, lien on title, in need of recall work(?)plus investigating how to legally get it home.
Another member suggested paying about $400 to get it shipped, adding to the price. There's no way I'd buy, without seeing or having a pro inspection(additional expense.).
One of the bikes I'm currently riding, I bought a year and a half ago, from a Pa. forum member. about 40 miles away. It was in great shape and low miles, with Eager Beaver parts and wiring, luggage, skid plate, center stand, etc.. I paid what a lot of current sellers are asking for the equivalent and more, now. I sold a 650 a few years back, off the forum. I asked a more than fair price and sold it in a couple of days. I even held it for three months, with a $500 deposit, till the member returned to Pa. from Fla.
That's some of the good and bad, about the forum classifieds. I feel if a member uses the classifieds here, they should treat buyers as a brother, not a CL stranger
