Tool tip

If anyone needs a digital caliper, there is a coupon in the May issue of Cycle World (The Cruiser Issue) for one of the six-inch Harbor Freight ones. It is normally $29.99, but with the coupon, it is only $9.99 plus tax.

I used it today to check the flare of the rivet on my new chain. Glad I got it. It also worked great to check the chain adjusters for equal length. Thought I'd pass along the info on this deal.

They do come in handy at times. You can also use it to measure the master link plate squish when pressing it on to keep it equal with the existing link width and not over pressing the x or o rings

Yeah, it might be too late for that. But, the plate generally looks lined up with the adjoining ones and the link does not feel stiff, so I think it came out alright. I did find I had not flared the rivet enough though, so I am glad I bought it as it allowed me to incrementally flare, check, flare, etc. First chain and sprocket change can make one nervous.
