If the bike had GIVI-type cases it might have been my buddy Ed.
We used to work out at the same gym a few years ago. Early last year after I'd seen my first V-Strom at a trail head off a dirt forest service road and had begun to consider the V-Strom. I had also met a lady on a red 650 with aluminum panniers in Brevard who had been to Alaska and Newfoundland in the past year and a half.
One morning, I was in Brevard, where Ed works and I saw a red V-Strom with GIVI cases parked at a bank. So I left my business card with a note scribbled on the back asking to call me about this bike.
Well, he called and we spoke for some time until we each realized who the other was. He'd ridden BMW's all his life and had just purchased the well-farkled 650. He loved the bike and had already done a couple 500-miles days.
That conversation pretty much sealed the deal for me.
