Recommendations in South Dakota

Headed up to the Sturgis area (not for the rally) in early July. Myself and another Strommer. Would like to ride some of the good roads , including dirt roads while we're in the area. How's about throwing out areas that we shouldn't miss while we are up there. We will be camping , so even if you have a favorite site or area , holler at me. Also , like most riders , we enjoy a good meal. Any restaurants we should hit (or miss for that matter).

Thanks ,
Dan

The southern Black Hills are awesome for beauty, don't miss Iron Mountain road and Needles Highway in the Custer State Park region. There are great campgrounds in the area, especially near Bismarck Lake, bordering Custer State Park.

Look up The Blade in this forum, he hosted the 2009 National V-Strom Rally in Rapid City.

There are too many nice rides to list them all but from Sturgis take Vanocker Canyon road to Hwy. 385 and then connect to Nemo Road. Get a National Forest Service map and discover lots of good gravel roads where you will never hear a Harley.

Sorry I didn't see this until today. I hope you had a great trip. If you are still in the area, please send me a PM.

Well Black Rino, the wife and I are going to the same area as soon as Sturgis is over. Wondering what some of your favorite roads were? We're not afraid of a little dirt and just looking for anything fun.

While I don't mind SOME dirt Sleddog1, that's a little more than I was thinking two-up. Sure looks like fun some other time when the wife isn't along.

We don't mind some adventure like we had back in Ecuador two years ago, but...

Probably as much difficulty as I would like to encounter this year, and even happier it it were less so.
