Just an observation:
I signed up for a Lee Parks "Total Control" Advanced Riding Clinic (ARC) through a local riding school a while back and the time finally came to take the course this last weekend, March 30. As the day of the event grew closer and closer on the calendar I started to wonder if I would be the only guy showing up on a V-Strom and end up sticking out like a sore thumb.
As luck would have it, I was the last attendee to show up in the morning right before the course started, lo and behold as I cruised down the line of parked bikes there were two other 'Stroms in the lineup, out of a group of 11 students and 2 instructors. One nice new fox-orange Glee and a red '04 DL650 that was ridden by one of the instructors, no less.
When I signed in, the instructor who wasn't riding a V-Strom asked me what I was riding, and when I told him he rolled his eyes and good-naturedly exclaimed "Gee Ive never seen one of those before!". Guess they get a lot of 'em...er, us
On top of that another fellow who is a member here (sorry I don't exactly recall his handle) also owns a DL1000 but brought his other bike. So really 4 out of 13 people were Strom riders....almost 25%.
Pretty cool demographic for a class like that. Which was a hoot, by the way. Even had bichin' weather instead of the endless cold and wind we've been getting this year.
