Givi Trunk Mounting plate?

I'm going to pick up an '08 DL650 this weekend and I need to ride it home a few hundred miles. I have a large Givi Monolock trunk with a universal mounting plate and need to know if it will bolt onto the Wee's luggage rack without having to drill any holes? I won't have any access to power tools, but it looks like (in the pictures I can find online) that the rack already has four holes in it from the factory. Will I be able to use these to attach my mounting plate tightly enough for the ride home (four 6mm bolts?)

Do you have the GIVI universal mounting plate (# E252)? That plate has some flexibility built into it that will allow the plate to accommodate slighting different positioning of mounting holes.

In which case I'm guessing you'd be ok.

Here is a thread with that plate mounted on top of another mounting plate... but it will show you how the plate is designed and whether that's what you have.

This trunk is a few years old. I don't know if they make Monolock stuff any more, Monokey seems to be what's available. The universal plate is very similar to the one in the pix on the thread you sited. Pull off the top cover and it reveals an eggcrate matrix of holes and a square washer under the bolt head. Are there any inherent weaknesses with the Strom luggage rack? Thanks for the quick reply!

I had the Givi Monokey mounting plate (E528 ) for a number of years (almost 7) and never had any issues with oem luggage rack. Still have the oem rack but with a SW Motech mounting plated for a Trax top case.

When I mounted the Givi plate, I had to remove the luggage rack for part of the installation and then when it was back on the clearance for hands and wrenches were rather tight to get the plate mounted. It might not be an issue with Monolock.
