So I have this set of Chase Harper saddlebags for my Wee, and I realized that the left side is open into the rear wheel. Not wanting to risk getting the left bag hung up in there, I decided to make a bracket to keep the bag out and away. Found the pattern for the pennytech bracket thread and printed off the pattern. Went to Home Depot and got the aluminum stock, measured and bent it appropriately, then painted it flat black. Job done.
So, I mounted the brace, then realized that I had used too narrow a piece of aluminum, so back to Home Depot for a piece of 1"X 1/8" piece. Got it all measured out bent and painted and then waited for the paint to dry. Meanwhile I put the saddlebags on and discovered that they don't go far enough down to meet the bracket. WTF????? They could be adjusted to go farther down, I suppose, but why, at this point.
So now I've got two nice brackets to hold the left saddlebag out on the left side, about $15.00 plus paint invested. Guess I'll just have to chalk it up to good practice.
So, in frustration, I pulled off the front sprocket cover and cleaned everything out to get it as clean as possible, then cleaned and lubed the chain. This is what happens when Spring taunts you, then winter dumps a bunch of snow! Sigh. Anyone else have this happen?
