Okay, my local Lowe's store has about half a dozen little drip bottles now on the shelf. I used to get their now discontinued spray lubricant, but that is no more. So, I narrowed it down to these two. Which one is the good stuff?

From what I know the blue bottle is no longer the same blue bottle formula we all know and love ... And the chain saver is only one that will cut it anymore ...

They have the chain saver cans at Amazon for $5 by the way ....

chain saver works fine. I ride all year so my chains get punished unfairly...

The Chain Saver is now my only lube. Applied with a 3/4" brush avoids that over-spray issue and cuts down on waste. I picked up 3 bottles yesterday at my local Lowe's and the cashier remarked..."you must really like this stuff, huh?" My general rule of thumb is an application about every 300 miles or so.

Well I bought 3 bottles of the blue for travel from Whitehorse. They stated it was good for your bike chain. I hope so as I'm traveling now. In big bend.

I used to use the original stuff in the blue can and liked it a lot. I just used the Chain Saver in the brown squeeze bottle for the first time this week. It goes on very thick, used an old toothbrush to spread it out along the chain. Because of the thickness, it seems like I used more lube than a traditional liquid lube, and it's not a big bottle so I get the feeling I should buy a few bottles at a time. No overspray, very clean.

If you notice, the brown bottle on the right says wax lubricant and the blue bottle does not. The original blue can which everybody loves used to be "dry, wax, lubricant". For reasons known only to DuPont, several months ago they changed the blue spray can formulation so it is no longer wax based (which also seemed to minimize it getting flung everywhere). So now, the chain saver is the only wax/Teflon lubricant.

Short answer: use the one on the right.

Don't know if the question was directed at me or another poster AND me...but, when I said 300 miles, I added ...'or so'. I keep a very close eye on the chain as I installed a new chain and sprockets about 3k miles ago and want to take good care of them.
